Erasistratus (304 BC-250 BC)

Greek anatomist and royal physician who founded a school of anatomy in Alexandria, where they carried out anatomical research. Erasistratus is credited for his astute descriptions of the heart and the first to distinguish between veins and arteries, as well as some of the first in-depth descriptions of the cerebrum and the cerebellum.
